InsurerAM, established in 2014, provides an on-line service of insurance investment-related information for professionals active in the management of insurance company assets. Timely news articles, press releases, market reports, interviews, trend analysis, and surveys are part and parcel of InsurerAM’s daily output.
Founded by Alex McCallum, a financial journalist with extensive experience on both sides of the Atlantic, InsurerAM puts a special focus on the insurance asset outsourcing market and the external investment firms and consultants that specialize in insurer portfolio management and advice.
McCallum received his initial training at Reuters in London and Brussels before the news agency transferred him to New York where he became North American financial news editor. After ten years at Reuters, he moved into financial PR and created media programs for up-and-coming financial organizations such as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (now CME Group), Janus Capital Management and MasterCard.
In the mid-1990s, as the Internet began its surge to prominence, McCallum helped to launch INO.com, one of the first websites for futures traders, as editorial advisor and the moderator of its MarketForum.com message board. He then transitioned into the insurance investment field as editor of the online services, Insurance Finance & Investment (IFI) and Insurance Asset Manager (IAM) before starting InsurerAM in 2014.
A native of Great Britain, McCallum attended St. Peter’s School, York, and Oxford University, where he graduated with an MA in the Honour School of Geography. He has been based in New England for more than 20 years.
On March 7, 2017, Alex McCallum passed away in his sleep. He will be greatly missed.
